In 2006 the DVLA crushed 40,000 untaxed car. It has been reported that some of the prestige one's are enjoying life with MI5 or the Police as decoy cars. The fire service are also using cars for training.

The Cost of Clamping...


Motorists whose vehicles are wheel-clamped for not having a valid tax disc will have to pay a £200.00 release fee for the said vehicle to be unclamped at the roadside.


'If a valid disc is produced within 14 days DVLA will refund £120.00 surety payment. If the vehicle is not claimed within 24 hours, the vehicle will be removed to a compound and the release charge rises to £280.00 plus £15.00 per day for storage.

Fake or Not...


More than half of motorists (53‰) cannot tell a genuine vehicle registration certificate (V5C) from a fake, and a fifth of motorists don't know what a V5C certificate is for, according to a DVLA survey of 1300 drivers.

It has been proven that the valeting or quite simply cleaning of your car will increase its value.


You do not need to pay someone else for this task, please see the tips below:-


  • Spray the car with your hosepipe.
  • Use a quality car shampoo.
  • Work from the roof downwards; leave the wheels alone for now.
  • Rinse the car off and use good quality chamois leather.
  • Use a wheel cleaner for alloys.
  • If you have plastic trims, it may be good idea to purchase new ones.
  • When the car is ready for a polish include inner sills and the inner painted door areas.
  • Vacuum the inside of your car and include the boot area.
  • Clean the dashboard with a quality car product.
  • Use a freshener, but not as to overkill.
  • The bonnet area may need some attention, but if you are not competent then seeks advice.
  • The engine bay should be free from oil spills and the washer bottles to be full and the coolant level correct...

This advice should enable you to generate the best price for your car.
