In 2006 the DVLA crushed 40,000 untaxed car. It has been reported that some of the prestige one's are enjoying life with MI5 or the Police as decoy cars. The fire service are also using cars for training.

The Cost of Clamping...


Motorists whose vehicles are wheel-clamped for not having a valid tax disc will have to pay a £200.00 release fee for the said vehicle to be unclamped at the roadside.


'If a valid disc is produced within 14 days DVLA will refund £120.00 surety payment. If the vehicle is not claimed within 24 hours, the vehicle will be removed to a compound and the release charge rises to £280.00 plus £15.00 per day for storage.

Fake or Not...


More than half of motorists (53‰) cannot tell a genuine vehicle registration certificate (V5C) from a fake, and a fifth of motorists don't know what a V5C certificate is for, according to a DVLA survey of 1300 drivers.
