BEN is the Automotive Industry Charity, the only occupational charity for those who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries. Founded in 1905, the Charity provides practical help, support, advice and friendship to more than 15,000 men and women and their families every year. In addition BEN provides a home to over 350 individuals who reside in one of its four residential centres in the UK and offers day care facilities at its centre in Coventry.

The British Red Cross helps vulnerable people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. Across the UK, hundreds of people experience a crisis every day – from a minor accident or illness to a life-threatening emergency, such as a house fire or flood. We make sure that these people get the care and equipment they need to cope.

We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.

Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK is the leading independent funder of cancer research in Europe, but gets very little Government funding. We are almost entirely funded by the public – without the generosity and dedication of our supporters we would not be able to continue to make progress against cancer.

Every year of research improves our understanding of how to prevent cancer and treat it more effectively. In 2004/05 over 3,000 world-class cancer scientists, doctors and nurses were able to take forward their pioneering investigations. This is only possible because of the incredible support we receive from the public, but there is still much more to do.

Marie Curie Cancer Care

Research conducted by Marie Curie Cancer Care shows that 75 per cent of people would like to be cared for at home if they were seriously ill with cancer. Every year, Marie Curie Nurses make that wish possible for thousands of cancer patients across the UK. The charity's 2,000 Marie Curie Nurses now care for half of all cancer patients who die at home and provide support for their families. For every family we reach, there's another we can't.

Care from the charity's nurses, and at its 10 hospices, is always free of charge.

Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

The RSPCA is the world’s oldest and best-known animal welfare organisation established in 1824 with the aim of promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to all animals. The RSPCA works tirelessly to educate the general public about responsible pet ownership, campaign for social and legal reform and continues to rescue, treat and re-home thousands of needy animals every year. The Society campaigns both in the UK and throughout Europe to keep animal welfare on the agenda, and achieve legal and social reform. In 2006 the new Animal Welfare Act passed into law, representing the biggest shake up of animal welfare legislation for almost a century. The new law means that for the first time, pet owners have a legal responsibility to meet the welfare needs of their animals.
