Sell my Car - Why Women Know How

It's something women have known all along - even in the traditionally male world of cars and car dealerships, research has concurred that women are better at selling cars than men. If you're thinking, 'sell my car' you need to forget the traditional male salesman.

Sell my car - The Gender Divide

Now, when it comes to buying and selling used cars, gender doesn't have to come into it. You can go online, Google 'sell my car' and you'll find websites dedicated to selling and buying used cars for the ultimate hassle-free solution. And judging by the research conducted for AA Personal Loans, not being gender specific is a bonus. The study found that out of the 1,500 UK drivers targeted, four out of the top five choices of car salespeople were women.

Sell my car! Tap into your feminine side

Traditionally, the image of the stereotypical car dealer is the wide-boy Cockney - typified in TV shows - someone you would trust as far as you could throw. It's no wonder people looking to 'sell my car' would prefer a woman to do the job for them. The survey found out which female celebrities that people who were looking to sell or buy cars would trust more: racing ahead was TV presenter Lorraine Kelley with 17% of the votes.

Jemima Clarkson, Rachael Hammond and Jane May!

The research was initially for 'a bit of fun' according to Mark Huggins, Head of AA Personal Loans. But it evolved to reveal a lot about what qualities people looking to 'sell my car' felt constituted as trustworthy in a car salesperson. Being female is thought to appeal because the gender doesn't rely on aggressive, sales tactics and generally have a more trustworthy demeanour.

Women in the driving seat

The research showed also that the used car market, whether it's selling or buying a car, is more female-dominated than the traditional male image suggests. According to the AA, 29% of women will buy a second hand vehicle over three years old in 2008, compared to 26% of men. So whether you want to 'sell my car' or are hoping someone will 'buy my car' - it could be time to tap into your feminine side.
