The UK is the road rage capital of the world. It first gained the dubious title in 2003, when the Daily Mail reported that nine out of ten UK drivers said they had been road rage victims at least once. It's no wonder victims of road rage, or those who find their blood pressure shooting up every time they get behind the wheel might be thinking it's time to sell my car.

• Gesticulating at other drivers
• One in seven road rage victims faced an aggressor who got out of the car and physically or verbally abused them
• White van men were cited in 13% of road rage incidents

The editor of Max Power magazine told the Daily Mail: "This research proves that Britain's roads are not a friendly place to be." Is it any wonder then that more people are putting into Google, 'sell my car'? But many people rely on cars for their work and home lifestyles - road rage is considered to be reflective of our increasingly hectic lives in urban environments, creating a vicious circle of stress.

Driven to distraction

Poll results published by the RAC show that half of motorists behave at their worst on the roads. Some drivers who definitely should be thinking, 'sell my car' include those that:

• Break hard to annoy the driver behind who is on their tail
• Give dirty looks to passing lorry drivers
• Gesticulate at other motorists they don't approve of

The RAC even reported an incident where a driver threw a Chinese take away out of their car window.
