Sell my Car - A 'Wardrobe on Wheels'

'Sell my car' could be three words that more women utter if new research proves true. Sheilas' Wheels, the car insurance company dedicated to women, discovered that women keep an average of four items, or the equivalent of £129 worth of stuff, in their cars on a daily basis. An estimated £2 billion in personal belongings are left in women's cars every day. This makes many of them obvious targets for theft, and those who have experienced theft may think it's time to 'sell my car'. The survey found that 60% of women treated their vehicles as extensions of their homes, with 85% having items more suited to their wardrobe kept in their cars.

Sell my car: Women at risk

What's worse the Daily Mail reported on research that discovered 14.4 million women drivers admitted to putting style before safety on the road. For those women who have experienced injury or accidents, it's no wonder they may be thinking, 'sell my car'. It's estimated that 12 million women put their lives at risk by wearing trendy sunglasses that limit their view of the road.

Eyes on the road

The huge sunglasses sported by the likes of Victoria Beckham and Paris Hilton are said to be the worst; wide-armed glasses can restrict peripheral vision. And the research commissioned by Sheilas' Wheels found 7% of women wore glasses so dark they were illegal to drive in. It's only when women become aware of the dangers they may think it's time to 'sell my car'. Safety should always come before style.

Sell my car! I'm taking the bus

The sunglasses recommended by the Eyecare Trust are aviator glasses - slim arms and curved shades with anti-reflective lenses. For those women not willing to put safety before fashion it may be best to consider the option to 'sell my car'. It isn't just the valuable possessions left lying around in cars, or the fashionable sunglasses that may be putting women's lives at risk: the boom in convertible car sales is also said to be putting women at greater risk of skin cancer. Cancer Research UK said drivers needed to protect themselves using sun-cream and hats as figures show a 43% rise in malignant melanoma skin cancer in the last decade. In this time, sales of convertibles have trebled, with an increasing percentage of buyers being women. All in all, it's no wonder some women decide it's time to 'sell my car' and take the bus instead!
